A planned book on new urbanist street and road networks is being split into two separate volumes. Peter Swift of Longmont, Colorado, and Rick Chellman of Ossipee, New Hampshire, have nearly completed a “context-directed street design manual,” which they expect to be published this year. Tallahassee-based transportation specialist Rick Hall’s work on transportation at the regional level was to be part of that book. Instead, Hall now expects to write a separate book on how to apply the concept of walkability to regions and corridors. Hall intends to work with four or five traditional neighborhood development specialists, including Seth Harry of Baltimore and Eliot Allen of Portland, Oregon.
