The success of River Ranch, a 256-acre

The success of River Ranch, a 256-acre community that Robert Daigle is developing in Lafayette, Louisiana, is spurring other people in Louisiana to consider Traditional Neighborhood Development. Officials of Ascension Parish, between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, recently toured River Ranch, designed by Steve Oubre, and said it looks like a good model for their 77,000-population jurisdiction. The parish is considering changing its codes to encourage mixed-use, pedestrian-oriented development. About 350 homes have been built in River Ranch, which when completed will have 1,200 households as well as shops and a town square.
