A tower house design is used on

A tower house design is used on steep slope lots in Cheshire, a traditional neighborhood development in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Called “treehouses,” these units designed by architect Seth Harry have a three story, 20 foot by 20 foot floor plan. The units are designed to cause as little disturbance as possible to the topography and mature trees, according to developer Sikes Ragan. The units do not have a garage, although outbuildings are permitted. Parking for all 25 treehouses will be in two small, central parking areas. Some of the units are designed for live/work use, with an office on the first floor. The main living area and deck is on the second floor, with two bedrooms above. Some of the “treehouses” will be owned by the developer as rental properties, while others will be for-sale as second homes.
