The Town of Huntersville, North Carolina recently chose Bowman Development Group, the developer of nearby Vermillion, to redevelop a 32-acre former mill site situated along the planned rapid transit corridor linking the town to Charlotte. A progressive 1996 zoning ordinance based on the principles of traditional town planning cleared the way for the town to purchase and redevelop the Anchor Mill site. The design for the site incorporates the existing mill building into a mixed-use transit village with low to medium density housing, senior housing, retail shops and offices, a public greenway, and recreation facilities.
