ROBERT STEUTEVILLE    DEC. 1, 2003
ULI honored a number of new urban projects in its 2003 Awards for Excellence competition. Seaside, Florida, which began construction 20 years ago, was honored. Seaside was developed by Robert Davis and planned by Duany Plater-Zyberk & Co.
The West Philadelphia Initiatives, an infill redevelopment effort by the University of Pennsylvania, also won, as did the Grove and Farmers Market in Los Angeles. Elkus/Manfredi Architects worked on both of those projects. Millennium Place in Boston, a Charter Award winner, also was recognized.
