Cities and towns are turning increasingly to form-based code (FBC) to govern the shape of the built environment. FBCs have become today’s best practice in land use law, in large part because of the significant returns they generate, to private and public coffers as well as to environmental and social benefits. FBC Bootcamp, which is offered at CNU’s annual Congress, provides opportunities to train up on what several leading coders have learned through their own experience. The FBC Bootcamp covers the basics about what qualifies as an FBC, the types, components, and implementation strategies. The bootcamp also discusses some of the nuances of streets, civic spaces, and urban design and concludes with a working session. Completion certifications are provided at the end of the course.
