Yard & Company is all about helping people change the way places change. Last year, we launched the Build Lab Fellowship to extend that same ethos to cultivating and growing creative expertise in the field. Open to all kinds of learners and doers regardless of age or background, this three-month program’s primary eligibility requirement is to be ready to unapologetically work to change the way places change for the better.
Responsibilities
Build Lab Fellows are encouraged to be in one of our locations but remote work is accepted on a case-by-case basis. A Fellowship typically includes the list of responsibilities and qualifications below but the position may change based on the unique skillset of the person chosen for the position. Compensation is provided commensurate to the Fellow’s past experience.
Responsibilities:
- Engagement planning/coordination/execution
- Site documentation
- Activation coordination and implementation
- Engagement and activation event marketing, storytelling and collateral design
- Case studies and precedent studies
- Program research and documentation
- Illustrative planning, modeling and rendering
- Policy research
- Documentation, presentations and reports
Office Administration:
- Printing and shipping coordination
- Assist in the maintenance and organization of online and offline resources (digital resources like reports and photos, YARD and Playbook Resource Libraries, activation equipment, office supplies, etc.)
Required Qualifications and Skills
This position requires creative energy, efficiency and proficiency in some, but not all of the following areas:
Teamwork and collaboration
- Internal and outward communication (verbal, writing, visual, etc)
- Hand drawing, photography and visual/graphic design
- Use of common tools to build activation/programming components
- Ability to carry moderate loads
Computer programs and platforms:
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Google G-Suite
- Microsoft Office programs
- ArcGIS and ESRI Business Analyst or similar
- AutoCAD or similar
- SketchUp and other 3-dimensional modeling software
- Google Earth
- Survey Monkey
- Mailchimp
- Squarespace and equivalents
- Trello
