Description
The Village is currently seeking to fill the position of Planner in the Community Development department. Reporting directly to the Director, this position assists with providing technical assistance and information to residents, applicants, and land developers regarding the Village's code, the comprehensive plan, and development permitting process.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Interprets and applies Village codes, comprehensive plan, ordinances, and regulations.
- Reviews building permit applications for zoning code compliance and development order consistency.
- Prepares required information and staff report to submit to the Board of Adjustment (BOA), Planning and Zoning Advisory Board (P&Z), and Local Planning Agency (LPA).
- Attends and records Village’s board meetings (BOA, P&Z, and LPA).
- Reviews and process accordingly development applications (variances, special exception uses), and site plan reviews. Evaluates consistency with Village codes and comprehensive plan.
- Inspects construction projects for zoning and landscaping compliance with permitted plans and development orders prior to issue a Certificate of Occupancy (CO)/Certificate of Completion (CC).
- Oversees development application fees and prepares invoices for applicants. Assists with administering contracts with consultants or contracted service providers.
- Conducts research and analysis of Village’s code and comprehensive plan, and other development projects and initiatives conducted by the department.
- Assists the Director with the budget process and the monitoring of revenue and expenditures.
- Prepares and updates project staff reports, findings, correspondence, memorandums, technical reports, legal advertisements, ordinances, resolutions, and/or other documents pertaining to proposed development.
- Maintains current files and complete records of department activities, and development application related to Village’s boards and council.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Urban & Regional Planning or a closely related field.
- One (1) year experience and training which includes progressively responsible comprehensive planning, zoning, development and site plan review, local/state land use, urban design, landscape design, architectural design and civil engineering
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job may be substituted for minimum qualifications.
