Description
The City of New Port Richey is seeking an experienced and dynamic Planning & Development Director to join the City’s leadership team and help lead the community planning and development functions for the city. Known for its culture and unique riverfront landscape, the City of New Port Richey is largely a residential community with a strong local government and a revitalized historical downtown offering a broad array of new business and retail services. The city is located approximately thirty (30) miles northwest of Tampa, FL. The Gulf of Mexico coastline borders the west side and the Pithlachascotee River runs through the city. The city is 4.6 square miles in size and the population continues to grow with nearly 17,000 residents today, which makes the city the second largest in the County.

Under the leadership of the City Manager, the Director will be responsible for performing a wide variety of complex technical as well as administrative tasks while managing the Planning & Development department. The Director should be a dynamic, responsible professional able to lead and provide both technical and administrative supervision over the respective areas of planning, zoning, community development, and building.

This position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in planning or related major with at least six years’ experience in the field of planning, engineering, community development or closely related field. Current supervisory experience is necessary. An American Institute of Certified Planners Certification (AICP) preferred.
