Are you a dynamic and strategic leader with a proven track record in addressing regional challenges? Fresno Council of Governments (Fresno COG) is seeking an exceptional Executive Director to lead with vision and innovation.

The Executive Director will be at the forefront of navigating complex regional issues, providing strategic leadership, and fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance. The ideal candidate will be proactive, forthcoming, and an honest communicator with the ability to foresee and respond to the concerns of both the public and the Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization with strategic and tactical acumen, utilizing strong analytical skills and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Inspire and motivate a high-performing team, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Develop and implement innovative, visionary strategies with a strong national perspective.
  • Oversee transportation funding, project delivery, and regional transportation and land use planning.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of demographics, air quality, housing demand, and natural resource protection to drive policy changes.
  • Address urban, suburban, and rural issues, with experience in Council of Government environments being highly favorable.

Education and Experience
The successful candidate will possess a combination of experience and education that equips them to perform at a high level in the role of Executive Director. Typically, this includes:

  • Ten years of progressively responsible, professional planning experience combined with supervisory and administrative experience in multimodal transportation planning, programming, and administration.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in planning, engineering, public administration, or a closely related field is expected. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Professional certification (AICP) is desirable.
