Description
The City's Planning Manager (Long Range and Design) performs responsible professional administrative and complex specialized work to supervise, coordinate and participate in the City activities related to long-range planning. Work is performed with substantial discretion and within broad parameters and reports to the Director of Neighborhood Development Services.
The preferred hiring amount for this position is between $83,678.40 - 107,203.20 Annually. Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. - The City of Charlottesville manages its own retirement system and does not participate in VRS, however the City has a Portability Agreement with VRS and there are certain provisions that must be met. Education and Experience:
Candidates may qualify by demonstrating the required knowledge and skills outlined for the job through experience(s) other than formal education.
- Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture or a related field AND 5 years of experience in municipal planning or a closely related field including experience in a senior or lead role, as a supervisor, or equivalent.
OR
- Associate degree in urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture or a related field AND 7 years of experience in municipal planning or a closely related field including experience in a senior or lead role, as a supervisor, or equivalent.
OR
- High School diploma or GED AND 9 years of experience in municipal planning or a closely related field including experience in a senior or lead role, as a supervisor, or equivalent.
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above.
