Description:

This Project Manager will join the City of Austin Redevelopment Division, a multidisciplinary team of real estate, architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, and planning professionals overseeing the transformation of city-owned properties into mixed-use, mixed-income, equitable developments that prioritize community benefits for the Austin community. Current projects within the Redevelopment Division portfolio include both Mueller, the redevelopment of 700 acres of Austin’s former municipal airport and the Colony Park Sustainable Community, the development of 200 acres of city-owned land into walkable, mixed-income, New Urbanist neighborhoods. Essential Duties:

This position will influence all areas of development from design to implementation through participation/management and/or coordination in decisions related to transportation, utilities, entitlements, real estate, architecture and design, site planning, governance structures, contracting, permitting and construction, property management, and community engagement. This position will require demonstrated experience in the creation and implementation of complex development scenarios and seeks a candidate that can work both independently and within a team to deliver project requirements. A practical knowledge of design and construction is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience with engineering and architectural design principles, practices, procedures, and estimating techniques.
  • Experience with land use and building regulations, including zoning, subdivision and site plan regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with principles of urban design and planning and experience working within areas with urban design standards or guidelines.
  • Knowledge of project accounting; architectural and construction methods; and the principles, methods, and practices of construction project management.
  • Ability to interpret legal descriptions of leases, real estate, easements, and similar documentation.
