Located twelve miles south of San Francisco, the City of Pacifica (pop 37,000) is the most panoramic coastal town in the San Francisco Bay Area. The City enjoys a diverse economic base with tourism playing an important role in the economy. The Community Development Director position provides an opportunity to lead a high-performing team of 14 FTEs and play a central role in many of the City’s priority projects.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and experienced planning professional with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. As a natural team-builder with a collaborative and flexible style, they will be able to develop strong relationships with colleagues and outside agencies and gain the trust and confidence of the community and elected officials. Successful candidates will have five years of increasingly responsible community development experience, including two (2) years of supervision and a Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Urban Planning or related field.
