Senior Architectural Designer – Community Architecture Focus
Description
Smith Gee Studio (SGS) is seeking a licensed (or on path to licensure) Senior Designer with 5-8 years or more of related experience to join our top-notch team of passionate, creative, and fun people. SGS is seeking a candidate with a specific passion for Traditional Neighborhood Development architecture who will support a team collaborating directly with our Urban Design team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing with custom home builders and developers in master planned communities, designing within parameters of unique community development guidelines and standards, a passion for traditional architectural styles and appropriate detailing, a working knowledge of the IRC Building Code, and an ability to create and deliver accurate builder-level construction document sets. Preferred experience in project types include custom and semi-custom single-family, town homes, live/work homes, and small stacked-flat multi-family and mixed-use projects. Required skills include designing and documentation proficiency in REVIT and a working knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and competent communication and presentation delivery.

Responsibilities will include providing professional architectural consultation in the planning and coordination of projects, while leading the design and drawing process. The Senior Designer will share our commitment to high quality place-making/urban design, community engagement, sustainable design, and be skilled at quickly adapting to the shifting needs of our clients. The Senior Designer would be expected to have a working knowledge of current housing trends and market preferences related to custom and semi-custom residential product types and be able to design creative solutions to meet those expectations. Strong organizational and communication skills are expected for building and maintaining relationships with clients, stakeholders, consultants, vendors, and staff. We are seeking someone with well-honed design, drawing, and rendering skills, and the ability to assist, teach, and guide less experienced designers.
