Steven Semes discussed his new book, New Building in Old Cities: Writings by Gustavo Giovannoni on Architectural and Urban Conservation. Semes, a Notre Dame professor, explained how Giovannoni promoted new urbanist ideas in 1931 and was one of many influential 20th-century designers neglected in the history books. The interviewer was the architect and academic Matt Bell.
